Surrounded by lush, forest greenery, Cachoeira de Iracema is a stunning waterfall located deep in the self-proclaimed “Terra de Cachoeiras” (“Land of Waterfalls”).

The cascading waterfall was mesmerising to watch for the sheer volume of water and the noise.  This image captures the moment the water crashes on the rocks below, kicking up white froth. The adjoining river was shallow and popular with swimmers, not least me.  Swimming in this cool, clear water as the parrots darted around me is something I will never forget.
